Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

Prescription Medicines

This is a new way to get your medicines and appliances and it is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.

What does this mean for you?

There will be no changes to how you order your repeat prescription but if you usually collect this from the Practice you will no longer have to make the journey to the practice to collect the paper prescription, instead, your GP will send it electronically to the pharmacy you choose. This can be any pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. All the practice needs to commence this service is the pharmacy’s full postal address.

This service may be just for you, if you use the same pharmacy most of the time and no longer wish to make the journey to the practice to collect your paper prescription.  Please ask at reception for more information.

Repeat prescriptions are reviewed at least every 6 months. The Doctor will attach a note advising you to make an appointment where appropriate, if you do not attend for the review you may not be provided with the medication until you do so. This is for the safety of individual patients. When the prescription comes up for review, or additional items have been requested, up to 56 hours may be required to collect the prescription.

Drug Names

Our policy is to use generic names wherever possible. Many companies produce the same product under different brand names. Generic names avoid confusion and are included in all labelling in smaller print under the brand name.
